COURSE DURATION 16 hours
PREREQUISITES -Successfully complete and receive a course completion certificate for a lead-based paint inspector training course-Applicant must submit proof of a bachelor's degree AND -One year of experience in a related field (e.g. lead, asbestos, public health, or environmental remediation work or building construction trades), OR -An associate's degree and two years of experience in a related field (e.g. lead, asbestos, public health, environmental remediation work, or building construction trades), OR -Documentation of a high school diploma (or equivalent), plus three years of experience in a related field (e.g. lead, asbestos, public health, environmental remediation work, or building construction trades), OR -Documentation of a certification as an industrial hygienist, a professional engineer, a public health nurse, a professional registered sanitarian, a certified safety professional, a registered architect, or an environmental scientist
ACCREDITING BODY Texas Department of State Health Services
INDIVIDUAL APP REQUIREMENTS -$610 every two years -$910 if expired for 90 days or less -$1210 if expired for more than 90 days but less than one year
INDIVIDUAL EXAM FEES Third party exam. $50 exam fee.
COMPANY APP REQUIREMENTS $1030 fee every two years
REFRESHER TRAINING Re-certification occurs when the Lead Risk Assessor completes lead inspector and lead risk assessor refresher training courses no sooner than 180 days prior to the certification expiration date and submits a renewal application along with a $610 fee to DSHS.
RECIPROCITY There are numerous reciprocity agreements with EPA and other states with authorized lead-based paint programs. Your state may accept training for certification programs from those training providers accredited by EPA or other state authorized programs. Because reciprocity agreements are subject to change, it is strongly recommended that you contact your state's accrediting body before taking training from an outside source.
