PREREQUISITES | -Applicants must be 18 years or older -All applicants must have one (1) year of experience in a related field (for example, asbestos, lead, environmental remediation work, or construction-related health and safety inspections), AND one (1) of the following: -Bachelor's degree and one additional year of experience in a related field, OR -Certification as a sanitary inspector-grade 1, health officer, an industrial hygienist, an engineer, a registered architect, or an environmentally-related scientific experience in a related field, OR -A high school diploma (or equivalent), and at least two additional years of experience in a related field |

INDIVIDUAL APP REQUIREMENTS | $150 every two years |
INDIVIDUAL EXAM FEES | Third party exam. $70 for each attempt. |
COMPANY APP REQUIREMENTS | $2,268 for two years |
REFRESHER TRAINING | An application for renewal of a permit shall be submitted during the 90 calendar day period prior to or after the permit's expiration date. The DOH will treat an application for renewal as a first-time application if the applicant's previous IRA permit has been expired for more than 90 days |
RECIPROCITY | There are numerous reciprocity agreements with EPA and other states with authorized lead-based paint programs. Your state may accept training for certification programs from those training providers accredited by EPA or other state authorized programs. Because reciprocity agreements are subject to change, it is strongly recommended that you contact your state's accrediting body before taking training from an outside source. |
