PREREQUISITES | -Successfully complete and receive a course completion certificate for a lead-based paint inspector training course -Certification as an industrial hygienist, an engineer, a registered architect, certified safety professional, registered sanitarian, or registered environmental health specialist -OR a bachelor's degree and one year of experience in a related field (e.g. lead, asbestos, environmental remediation work, or construction) -OR an Associates degree and two years of experience in a related field (e.g., lead, asbestos, environmental remediation work, or construction) -OR a high school diploma (or equivalent), and at least 3 years of experience in a related field (e.g., lead, asbestos, environmental remediation work, or construction) |

REFRESHER TRAINING | Refresher training every 3 years. State examination for Risk Assessors, Supervisors, and Inspectors every 3 years. |
RECIPROCITY | There are numerous reciprocity agreements with EPA and other states with authorized lead-based paint programs. Your state may accept training for certification programs from those training providers accredited by EPA or other state authorized programs. Because reciprocity agreements are subject to change, it is strongly recommended that you contact your state's accrediting body before taking training from an outside source. |
