DISCIPLINE Lead Hazard Reduction Contractor/Agent
COURSE DURATION 40 hours
PREREQUISITES -Successful completion of an initial training course, approved in accordance with �18.7(b), within the twelve (12) month period prior to submission of the initial application, AND -Successful completion of both written and practicum examinations required by �15.7, AND -High school diploma/GED, or at least three (3) years experience in lead hazard reduction, asbestos abatement, and/or the building trades, AND -Valid certificate of registration as a 'Contractor' issued by the Rhode Island Contractors' Registration Board pursuant to Title 5, Chapter 65 of the General Laws of Rhode Island, 1956, as amended, and the Administrative Regulations & Construction Standards of the Rhode Island Contractors' Registration Board, AND -Compliance with the medical monitoring requirements specified in �13.13(c)
ACCREDITING BODY Rhode Island Department of Health
INDIVIDUAL APP REQUIREMENTS -$200 annually -$260 late renewal
INDIVIDUAL EXAM FEES -$35 for each written exam -$35 for each practicum exam
COMPANY APP REQUIREMENTS -$200 annually -$260 late renewal
REFRESHER TRAINING -A Lead Hazard Reduction Contractor, Lead Hazard Reduction Site Supervisor, or Lead Hazard Reduction Worker may request a license renewal by submitting: -An application in accordance with �15.2(a) without reference to any previously submitted material, AND -Documentation of successful completion of the appropriate annual review course specified in �18.7 within the twelve month term of their current valid license, AND -Documentation of compliance with the medical monitoring requirements specified in �13.13 -Payment of the appropriate fee specified in �15.8, AND -An updated respiratory protection plan (Lead Hazard Reduction Contractor only). This requirement shall not be applicable if the Lead Hazard Reduction Contractor has not made any changes in the respiratory protection plan submitted pursuant to �15.2(h) of these Regulations. The Department may, upon request, grant an extension of up to fourteen (14) days for submission of the respiratory protection plan -If a license issued pursuant to this Section has expired and a renewal application and appropriate fee are not received by the Department on or before the expiration date of the license, a late renewal fee as specified in �15.8 must be submitted with a renewal application -Any Lead Hazard Reduction Contractor/Agent, Lead Hazard Reduction Site Supervisor, or Lead Hazard Reduction Worker who has failed to pay an administrative fine imposed by a final order of the Department shall submit payment of the administrative fine in full as a condition of license renewal -An expired license more than six (6) months beyond its expiration date is not eligible for reinstatement. A new initial application must be submitted in accordance with �15.2.
RECIPROCITY There are numerous reciprocity agreements with EPA and other states with authorized lead-based paint programs. Your state may accept training for certification programs from those training providers accredited by EPA or other state authorized programs. Because reciprocity agreements are subject to change, it is strongly recommended that you contact your state's accrediting body before taking training from an outside source.
