INDIVIDUAL APP REQUIREMENTS | After class, individuals must apply to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to become certified. This certification is valid for 5 years. There is no fee at this time for the individual certification, aside from the training course fee. |

COMPANY APP REQUIREMENTS | $300 annual fee |
REFRESHER TRAINING | Refresher training (4 hours) is required every five (5) years and must be completed prior to the training certificate expiration date. If the certificate expires, individuals need to take the 8-hour initial course again to become certified. A renewal application must also be submitted to NC HHCU after attending the refresher class to receive your renewed state certification. |
RECIPROCITY | Training can be completed outside of NC with a training provider that is accredited by U.S. EPA or by a state with a U.S. EPA authorized program. Classes conducted on North Carolina soil must be conducted by an NC-accredited training provider. |
